Our AAUW Northern Palm Beach County branch is part of a national organization established in 1881 by a small group of female college graduates to encourage other women to pursue higher education. Today the American Association of University Women comprises a community of more 170,000 members and supporters throughout the country. Continuing the tradition of our founding, members all hold an associate’s degree (or equivalent) or higher.

Our founding.  Our branch was founded in 1959, and draws members from throughout Palm Beach and southern Martin counties and serves the communities of Hobe Sound, Juno Beach, Jupiter, Lake Park, North Palm Beach, Palm Beach, Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach Shores, Riviera Beach, Stuart, Tequesta, and West Palm Beach

Our branch was the driving force behind the creation of the North Palm Beach Library, which was established in 1969. The Thelma A. Obert Room at the library is named in honor of our branch founder who was also one of the founders of the library.

State, national connections. Were one of 30 branches in Florida and 1,000 nationwide whose programs and activities focus on gender equity through research, education, and advocacy. The programs and projects we undertake are aimed at achieving equity and opening doors of opportunity for women and girls. Through our Charitable Foundation, our branch raises funds for programs to support that mission, both locally and nationally.
