All branch members are also members of our Charitable Foundation, which was established in January 2008 as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization. Through the foundation, we raise funds for programs that support AAUW’s mission, promoting equity and equal opportunities for women and girls, locally and nationally.
An annual February benefit is our primary fund raiser. Regrettably, an in-person benefit can not be held this year, due to the pandemic, but we’re hoping to find alternative means.
The funds raised by and contributed to the foundation benefit:
- Doris Karlik Local Scholarships, which help deserving local women enrolled in a college or university continue their education.
- Tech Trek week-long, STEM camps for middle-school school girls. The pandemic caused cancellation of the two camps planned for summer 2020. Hopefully, the camps will be back in 2021.
- AAUW National Funds – including a Greatest Needs Fund, Economic Security Fund, Education and Training Fund, and Leadership Fund. Among the initiatives supported by the last three funds in the list, above, are research, fellowships and grants, Work Smart, Legal Advocacy, Campus Action.
Your tax-deductible contributions welcomed any time.
